The Eventuri FL5 Civic Type R Black Carbon Intake System replaces the factory airbox on the K20C1 with a sealed pre-preg carbon enclosure, a carbon Venturi tube with an integrated MAF mount, and a custom silicone hose that carries the tract through to the turbo inlet. Eventuri developed it by iterating their FK8 system to take advantage of the larger FL5 engine bay.
The intake is positioned directly behind the radiator, where cooling fan discharge and nearby turbocharger components contribute to elevated engine compartment temperatures. Eventuri addresses this environment with a fully enclosed carbon fiber airbox designed to isolate the filter from heated engine bay air, rather than relying on a conventional open-filter heat shield.
Inside the airbox, a carbon Venturi tube replaces the factory flexible rubber hose, which carries several deep internal ridges. The Venturi stack is matched to the inner diameter of the filter neck so the transition from filter to tube is continuous. The carbon Venturi tube is positioned independently within the sealed airbox, allowing relative movement as the engine shifts under load. This arrangement helps preserve the enclosure seal without placing unnecessary stress on the carbon components.
At the turbocharger connection, a custom silicone hose replaces the factory flexible inlet hose while retaining the original breather module through a dedicated mounting arrangement. An internal step is designed to match the factory metal turbo tube, reducing the exposed internal transition at the connection.
Eventuri reports gains of 14 horsepower and 15 ft-lb of torque at the flywheel from back-to-back dynamometer testing conducted by independent Honda tuning specialists. Testing compared the factory airbox with the Eventuri intake on a vehicle retaining its standard engine calibration and exhaust, with the hood closed during testing.
